CBSE To Conduct Special Exams For Students Participating In Sports Events

This special exam opportunity is for students whose CBSE board exams coincide with the dates of recognized national or international sports events, including travel dates for such events, as recognized by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
This move is part of India’s broader initiative to promote youth participation in sports. The special exam provision ensures that students who excel in both sports and academics are not disadvantaged by conflicting exam schedules. To avail of this opportunity, students must submit a request through their schools. The regional CBSE office will notify the concerned schools of the approval by January 15, 2025.
Since March 2020, CBSE has also been offering a similar special examination for students participating in International Olympiads, whose exam dates overlap with the Olympiad dates, including the travel dates. These Olympiads must be recognized by the relevant authorities in India, such as the Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education (HBCSE).
CBSE Board Exam 2025: Eligibility
This provision applies only to the main theory exams and recognized events or journey periods. It does not cover supplementary exams, practical exams, training camps, or incomplete applications. Certificates must be issued by designated nodal officers and made available online for verification.
CBSE Board Exam 2025: How to apply?
- Students must submit a formal request via their schools, which obtain certificates from authorized bodies like SAI, BCCI, or HBCSE.
- Schools must forward complete applications to CBSE by December 31, 2024.
- Exams will be rescheduled within 15 days of the original schedule.
- CBSE’s regional offices will communicate approvals to schools by January 15, 2025.
