The Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi, has released a notification mentioning the resumption of normal classes in schools. According to the notice, dated January 17, states that the Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Reg and Adjoining Areas has decided to revoke actic under Stage III of the GRAP schedule, with immediate effect. Consequently, the DoE has announced that all classes in all schools, both private and government, will now be held in physical mode, effective immediately.

Resumption of Normal Classes in Schools: Here is what official notification says 

“The Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas in its order No. 120017/27/GRAP/2021/CAQM-24(VS) dated 17.01.25 (Copy enclosed) has decided to revoke actions under Stage-III (‘Severe’ Air Quality) of the extant Schedule of GRAP, with

immediate effect. Accordingly, all the Govt., Govt. Aided, Unaided Recognized Private Schools of DoE, NDMC, MCD and Delhi Cantonment Board are informed that the guidelines issued vide circular of even number dated 16.01.25 are hereby revoked with immediate effect. Thus, all classes in all schools are to be held in physical mode with immediate effect. All the Heads of Schools are hereby directed to disseminate this information among students, staff members and parents of the students,” read the official notification. 

While several regions have been experiencing extreme weather conditions over the past few weeks, different states, including Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, earlier extended the winter break or announced school closures to ensure the safety of students.

Below is a complete list of school closures across various states and cities.

Delhi Schools Closed

It should be mentioned that schools across the national capital remained closed for 15 days from January 1 to15, 2024. 

UP Schools Closed: District-Wise Closure Details

Agra and Mathura: According to media reports, schools from classes 1 to 8 remained closed till January 14.

  

Gorakhpur: It is learned that schools remained closed till January 6.

Lucknow: Schools remained closed till January 11, 2025.  

Ghaziabad: All schools for classes 1 to 8 remained shut till January 11, 2025.

Haryana

The Haryana government had earlier announced that all schools in the state would remain closed from January 1 to January 15.
