In most schools, the admission list was determined based on points awarded for criteria such as neighborhood, sibling, and alumni status. Only those who scored between 100 and 50 points made it to the list. Some children, however, have been placed on the waitlist.
After the release of the first list, the parents were seen seeking information about admission forms and fees. Many parents were disappointed after seeing the first list. Several parents had applied to an average of 10-15 schools, but many children did not make it to either the first list or the waitlist.
Parents are struggling to understand why, despite applying to so many schools, their children’s names were not on the list. This has only increased the difficulties for the parents.
Parents Concerned About Their Children’s Names Missing from the List
Parents are complaining about the lottery process after not finding their children’s names on the list. They say that when the lottery was held, they were not called, and some were called individually while the lottery was conducted secretly. One parent, Deepender, mentioned that their child had only neighborhood points, and if they had received points for sibling or alumni status, they would have been admitted.
The child missed out because of the lack of sibling and alumni points. Another parent, Deepti, said she had applied to 10-12 schools in East Delhi but found no mention of her child’s name in either the first list or the waitlist.
Some parents feel lucky because they had points for both neighborhood and sibling or alumni status, while others are puzzled as to why their children were not on the list despite living just three kilometers away from the school.
The Second List Will Be Released on February 3
With no names on the first list or the waitlist, parents are now pinning their hopes on the second list. The second list will be released on February 3, and the waitlist will also be published. If there are still vacant seats, a third list may be issued on February 26.
Parents Hopeful for the Waitlist
Delhi Public School in East of Kailash has released a list of 90 children, all of whom scored between 88 and 56 points. The school awarded 50 points for neighborhood, 12 points for alumni, and 26 points for sibling status.
They have placed 175 children who scored 50 points on the waitlist. ITL Public School has admitted 44 children who scored between 90 and 80 points in the first list and asked them to complete the formalities by January 31.
Meanwhile, Summer Fields School conducted a lottery for children who scored 75 points, resulting in a list of 169 children, while 100 children were placed on the waitlist.
