National Startup Day 2025: National Startup Day, observed on January 16, aims to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship that boosts economic growth, innovation, and job creation. The days provides a forum for honouring the work of startups that upend established marketplaces, transform industries, and motivate upcoming generations of businesspeople.

In a bid to give recognition to the economic contributions made by entrepreneurs in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proclaimed January 16 to be National Start-up Day in 2022. 

National Startup Day 2025: Scheme 

The Atal Innovation Mission, abbreviated as AIM, is a flagship initiative set up by the NITI Aayog in 2016 to promote innovation and entrepreneurship across the length and breadth of the country. 

It should be mentioned that the AIM 2.0 initiative with an enhanced scope of work and an allocated budget of Rs 2,750 crore is approved for the period till March 31, 2028.

Munishar Mohammad, a class XII student of Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya of Delhi Government, has started a startup of making customized lamps under the Atal Innovation Mission. The special thing is that the team of six students has spent only Rs 11,000  to start the startup. They received the financial help from the government under the Atal Innovation Mission. He manufactures and supplies lamps in Delhi’s electronic market Bhagirath Palace.

Sajid Akhtar, associated with the Atal Incubation Center established in Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, says that after studying B.Tech from Aligarh Muslim University, he worked in big companies on a good salary package. He left his job last year and developed an AI-based app to help YouTubers. 

Another youth associated with this center, Chirag Arora, after studying BBA from IPU, started a startup named Horika last year. This startup has been started from November.

This startup has brought together a network of retailers. Chirag stated that they are receiving assistance from this center in order to increase our networking. Similarly, many Delhi institutions are always working to foster a startup culture at their own campuses.

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IPU) has established a special Rs 5 million innovation and incubation fund for entrepreneurship and startups in order to encourage them. Students at the university and affiliated colleges benefit from this training in science, technology, engineering, business, humanities, mass communication, law, and other disciplines. This fund is meant to support business creation, mentoring, and seed money for pre-incubation ventures.
